It started somewhere around 6 years ago. Jamie Drake and I were working at Starbucks in Thousand Oaks with profoundly different lives than those which we live now. We were fully immersed in suburbia dreaming of the day when we would both somehow be able to sing songs up and down the west coast. I had just started to sing, and Jamie had been at it for some time but had settled down and tried to start planting roots that didn't really allow the music dream to flourish.
It was just a fun idea... Not the kind that seemed possible.
However, we found ourselves here. Driving up to San Francisco laughing and planning out different ways to make our tour special. We reminded ourselves frequently " WE'RE ON TOUR! IT'S HAPPENING!" and it still hasn't gotten old or normal now that its over.

Hotel Utah was our first stop. I couldn't believe how many friends came out from all kinds of different chapters in my life. It helped to make me feel like it was as normal as breathing for me to play shows in new cities. I can't imagine a better way to start of the tour.
One of the treats Jamie and I put together were three songs to glue our sets together into a real show. We wrote a " Welcome to our show" song, an " Intermission" song and finally a " Goodbye". Each are about 30 seconds long and kind of funny.
As we sang " Welcome to our show" and heard the crowd chuckle during our last line of " ...hope that we.... Don't blow" I knew this was something special.
Our sets wrapped up, we greeted friends and fans, we danced most of the rest of the night as the other bands played. It was the perfect first show if you ask me.
We then moved on to Oregon... but that's another post :)
Peace,
Carly
